Back to School!

Ella's second year of preschool has begun. This year she is going three days a week instead of two. All summer whenever we drove by her school she would ask if it was open yet so I think she's been ready for this day for awhile ;) She has a new teacher this year and a whole new set of classmates. It's funny to see the difference from her first day last year when she sat very timidly in the back of the rug and would barely say "hi" to her teacher. This year she came in, walked right up to her teacher, said "hi!" and sat in the front. I guess she's coming out of her shell more and more.

I blinked........

and summer was over :( Why can't winter go by that fast!?! I guess it's technically still summer until the end of September but the pools are closing, school is starting, and the care free feeling of summer is definitely gone. I once again was a horrible blogger and haven't posted anything in forever. I have also been a horrible mom and haven't taken any pictures of my kids! I can't believe it! I have a sort of good excuse though.....

We got a little surprise back in April and found out we were expecting! I felt pretty awful months 2-3 1/2 and haven't had much motivation to do anything. My days consisted of trying to get the basics done (laundry, kids fed, diaper changes, brushing my teeth without gagging) and of course I fell behind most days so picture taking and blogging sort of took a back seat.
I took the kids to California for two weeks in June for my friends wedding. We had a great time but the weather was a little too chilly for my liking and I didn't get to do a lot of the things we had planned (as usual) Also realized traveling with two kids alone for two weeks while pregnant and nauseous is not the best idea...live and learn! The kids were absolutely wiped out at the end of our trip and missed their daddy tremendously! I'm not sure who was more exhausted though, them or me?

Here are a few highlights from the trip...

breakfast smoothies made by Grandma (his hair is now shaved so it's weird to see him with hair)

Taking the kids to my favorite beach on an absolutely gorgeous day!

Took the kids to the Avila Barn where they got to pick berries for the first time! (Sorry for the terrible picture but my father recovering from cataract surgery took it)

We got stranded in the berry field (long story) which wasn't really a highlight but it was an adventure

One of my personal favorite days, shaved ice at the beach :)

Ella was a flower girl, and a super cute one too! ;)

Other highlights included In-N-Out Burger, Jamba Juice, seeing family and friends, being apart of one of the most gorgeous weddings, and the delicious fresh California fruit! This pregnant mama couldn't get enough! I'm telling you, nothing compares to fresh picked Cali strawberries! The fruit in Ohio can't even compare :(

The rest of the summer has been spent at the pool, trying to keep cool! So there you have it....our summer in a nutshell! I hope to get back into picture taking soon, just as soon as I locate my missing battery charger..... ;)
